Pasado, presente y futuro de la hemofilia is the title of the conference due to be held in Medell\u00ecn (Colombia) on 12th February 2014 by Professor Pier Mannuccio Mannucci, one of the world’s greatest experts on hemophilia, currently working as Scientific Director of IRCCS Ca’ Granda foundation of Milan’s Policlinico Hospital. The event is organized by the Pablo Tob\u03ccn Uribe Hospital and Kedrion, in conjunction with Vitalis Pharmaceutical and FIAC – Farmac\u00e9utica Internacional de Alto Costo, with the support of the Colombian Haemophiliac Patients’ Association.<\/p>\n
Open to industry experts, patients’ associations and all of the scientific community, the conference will start at Hotel Estelar Milla de Oro at 07.00 pm, with Dr Kenny G\u00e1lvez’s opening speech about the situation of hemophilia in Colombia. This will be followed by Professor Mannucci, who will deal with two key issues: how to choose Factor VIII to treat hemophilia and how to diagnose and treat Von Willebrand Disease.<\/p>\n
Over the last 20 years, Kedrion’s plasma-derived factor VIII concentrates have been used to treat Hemophilia A. These products are now commercialized in 34 countries, and last year about 230 million International Units were distributed.<\/p>\n
At the end of the conference, Professor Mannucci will stay on for a question and answer session.<\/p>\n
