\u201cNon-mediated\u201d video news digital platform Epateam.org launched in February
\n<\/p>\n

Epateam.org<\/a> is a new digital platform entirely dedicated to hepatology and liver transplantation. An integral part of the Epateam educational campaign, this website innovatively features almost two hundred video clips, taken from filmed interviews with Italy’s best-known surgeons and hepatologists that have been edited so as to focus on specific aspects of liver transplantology. These shorts are addressed to general practitioners, and to patients, to improve awareness of liver pathologies, transplantation and pre- and post-transplant patient care management. Additional contents include footage of patients discussing their experiences, and testimonies by professional figures such as anaesthetists, psychologists, nursing and supporting staff.<\/p>\n

The Epateam campaign, in which Kedrion Biopharma presented itself as Italian liver transplantology’s key partner, launched nationally in 2017 thanks to an unconditional grant from the company. It is supported by the Italian association of Hospital Gastroenterologists and Digestive Endoscopy Technicians (AIGO), the Italian Liver Transplant Association, the Italian association of Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy (SIGE) and the Italian Organ Transplant Association (SITO).<\/p>\n

Epateam.org<\/a> was officially presented on February 22nd in Rome, during the annual congress of the Italian Association for Liver Studies (AISF). The presentation event was chaired by Michele Mirabella, journalist and TV writer, and was attended by eminent Italian liver transplantology experts.<\/p>\n

In front of an audience of almost one hundred, which included medical and scientific professionals, and patients associations’ representatives, guest speakers addressed the topic of liver transplant and related issues, calling for specialist knowledge to be shared with a broader audience.<\/p>\n

“Epateam is a great achievement. Now more than ever, medical science must be shared”, Mirabella pointed out. A belief that was also upheld by the four Epateam Faculty members – Stefano Ginanni Corradini, Patrizia Burra, Lucio Caccamo and Renato Romagnoli – who from the stage explained the reasons underlying this “non-mediated” multimedia communication initiative, and its main objectives for the short- and medium-terms.<\/p>\n

The challenge now awaiting specialists is that of drawing general practitioners and patients into this educational campaign; as of today, the campaign benefits from the contents made available by the online platform, which was developed and is managed by Typimedia. The platform is online at www.epateam.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n
