{"id":6942,"date":"2022-03-02T10:59:24","date_gmt":"2022-03-02T09:59:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kedrion.it\/?post_type=news&#038;p=6942"},"modified":"2022-03-03T11:09:14","modified_gmt":"2022-03-03T10:09:14","slug":"kedrion-pharmacosmos-partnership-for-the-treatment-of-anemia-in-italy","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.kedrion.it\/en\/kedrion-pharmacosmos-partnership-for-the-treatment-of-anemia-in-italy\/","title":{"rendered":"Kedrion-Pharmacosmos partnership for the treatment of Anemia in Italy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Exclusive agreement signed for the distribution of a novel<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>iron-based therapy<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Kedrion Biopharma and the Pharmacosmos Group, a global leader in the production of IV iron for medical use, have entered into an exclusive agreement to distribute a novel iron-based therapy in Italy for patients suffering from iron deficiency anemia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the agreement, Kedrion will exclusively distribute Monoferric<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, an iron-based preparation for intravenous administration produced by Pharmacosmos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to data from the World Health Organization, an estimated 2 billion people are anemic worldwide<sup>[1]<\/sup>; more than 1 billion of them live with iron deficiency anemia<sup>[2]<\/sup>. Often under-diagnosed or under-treated, this disease is amongst the most widespread nutritional deficiencies worldwide. It is estimated that 5% of the female population in Italy is affected by iron deficiency anemia<sup>[3]<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paolo Marcucci, Executive Chairman of Kedrion Biopharma, said, &#8220;This agreement will allow us to expand our commitment beyond that of rare diseases, redefining and consolidating our efforts to support a new community of patients affected by a disease that is very common amongst the population on a global scale.
