{"id":9329,"date":"2026-05-29T16:08:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T14:08:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kedrion.it\/?post_type=news&#038;p=9329"},"modified":"2026-05-29T16:08:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T14:08:14","slug":"fostering-dialogue-between-industry-and-european-institutions","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.kedrion.it\/en\/fostering-dialogue-between-industry-and-european-institutions\/","title":{"rendered":"Fostering dialogue between industry and European institutions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Kedrion today welcomed Member of the European Parliament Dario Nardella to its plant in Bolognana (Lucca, Italy), where the company recently announced an investment of approximately \u20ac150 million, supported by of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT), to triple the production capacity from 1.1 million to 3.3 million liters of plasma processed per year. Bolognana has become the cornerstone of Italy\u2019s \u201c<em>Plasma Valley<\/em>\u201d that plays a strategic role within the global plasma\u2011derived therapies value chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The visit included a presentation of the company\u2019s activities and the production site, followed by a guided tour of the facility, providing an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into Kedrion\u2019s leading role in the development of therapies for patients with rare and ultra-rare diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Significant attention was devoted to the European regulatory landscape, with a focus on key legislative initiatives currently under development affecting the pharmaceutical sector and, more specifically, the plasma-derived medicines industry. Among these, particular emphasis was placed on the <strong>Biotech Act<\/strong>, a European initiative aimed at strengthening the competitiveness and manufacturing capacity of the biotech sector within the European Union. On these topics, Kedrion maintains an ongoing dialogue with European institutions, also through its collaboration with PPTA (Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association), with the shared goal of ensuring that the specificities of the plasma value chain are adequately represented in the future regulatory framework.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dario Nardella, Member of the European Parliament,<\/strong> stated:<br><em>&#8220;Kedrion rappresenta un&#8217;eccellenza non solo toscana ma europea nel settore dei biofarmaci e dei farmaci a base di plasma \u2014 una realt\u00e0 produttiva di primissimo livello, nel cuore della Garfagnana. La mia visita si inserisce nel lavoro di valutazione che sto conducendo nelle principali realt\u00e0 produttive italiane, in vista del voto sul regolamento europeo sulle biotecnologie, di cui sono relatore per il gruppo S&amp;D al Parlamento Europeo. Le norme devono corrispondere alla realt\u00e0 dei territori: per questo sto raccogliendo informazioni, esperienze e testimonianze preziose lungo tutto il tessuto produttivo del settore, con particolare attenzione a quello farmaceutico e alla forte vocazione della Toscana in questo ambito. Con il nuovo regolamento europeo avremo pi\u00f9 semplificazione, pi\u00f9 competitivit\u00e0 e pi\u00f9 strumenti \u2014 economici e legislativi \u2014 per sostenere le imprese delle biotecnologie e recuperare, in tempi relativamente rapidi, il divario oggi enorme che separa l&#8217;Europa dalla leadership mondiale degli Stati Uniti. Il 7 luglio scade il termine per la presentazione degli emendamenti alla proposta della Commissione europea. Confido in un lavoro innovativo e coraggioso dell&#8217;intero Parlamento, per portare a casa un testo ambizioso che far\u00e0 fare grandi passi avanti a tutta l&#8217;industria delle biotecnologie italiana ed europea.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThis visit represented an important opportunity for discussion on the strategic role of plasma and the plasma-derived medicines industry. We addressed key challenges and opportunities at the European level, with the aim of contributing to strengthening the continent\u2019s strategic autonomy and its global competitiveness.
