Kedrion and the Italian transfusion world together at SIMTI 2023

Always committed to encouraging the Italian world of transfusion to constantly reflect on the latest news in the therapeutic and diagnostic field, and the most recent developments in patient management, Kedrion participated, as a silver sponsor, in the 7th National Conference of Transfusion Services of the Italian Society of Transfusion Medicine and Immunohematology (SIMTI), held in Vicenza, Italy, on May 24-26.

In addition to participating with a booth and a delegation of guests, the company supported a workshop on “Patient Blood Management (PBM): The Treatment of Anemia and Iron Deficiency in Chronic Patients,” which was held on May 25 and was moderated by Maria Beatrice Rondinelli (Medical Manager of the UOS Patient Blood Management of the San Camillo-Forlanini Hospital in Rome and member of the  NATA board (the Network for the Advancement of Patient Blood Management, Haemostasis and Thrombosis). The meeting had as speakers Anna Falanga (Hematology at the University of Milan Bicocca and the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo) and Ivo Beverina (Head of the Blood Transfusion Center of the West Milan Local Health Authority – Legnano General Hospital).

“Among the central themes of SIMTI 2023, Patient Blood Management has emerged and developed over time, and today, there is full awareness that PBM is concerned with patient safety in order to improve their prognosis. As reaffirmed in the workshop, PBM is a multidisciplinary approach in which the correction of preoperative anemia plays a key role throughout the entire care pathway. PBM is a real column in the management of the preoperative and postoperative phase, as well as in other types of deficiency anemia which are characterized by different pathways.”

Maria Beatrice Rondinelli

In line with its commitment to contribute to the promotion of a multidisciplinary approach to the topic of anemia and iron deficiency among specialists from different therapeutic areas, Kedrion supported the FADOI (the Scientific Society of Internal Medicine) with an unconditional contribution at the Society’s 27th National Congress, which was held in Milan from May 6 to 8, which saw the participation of the company with a booth.
