Support for research: calls for Marcucci and Fabbrizzi Prizes now available

We are pleased to announce that until March 31, 2025 the calls for the Marcucci and Fabbrizzi Prizes 2024, supported by Kedrion and made in collaboration with Fondazione Carlo Erba, are open.

The Marcucci Prize, established in memory of Kedrion’s founder, Guelfo Marcucci, is aimed at young researchers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and results in the field of hematology. The two research projects that will best prove to be particularly innovative and that could form the basis for future programs on the topic of congenital coagulopathies will be selected. The two prizesamount to 10,000 euro each and are reserved for graduates in scientific disciplines.

The Fabbrizzi Prize, promoted to pay homage to the work of Fabrizio Fabbrizzi, a physician and researcher at Kedrion who passed away in 2020, is aimed at young Italian graduates. The best research project on the therapeutic use of plasma proteins, their purification from plasma or production with genetic engineering techniques will be selected. The call is valued at 7,500 euro and is also reserved for graduates in scientific subjects.

These prizesaim to promote excellence in scientific research, offering unique opportunities to young talent. Kedrion is proud to collaborate with  Fondazione Carlo Erba to support innovation in the field of biomedicine.

“The final objective of these initiatives that aim to involve mainly young Italian researchers – said Andrea Caricasole, Chief Research and Innovation Officer at Kedrion – is to support and incentivize new discoveries, particularly in the field of rare and ultra-rare diseases, which can have a significant impact on human health”. “We want to encourage the development of solutions that can improve the quality of life and contribute to the progress of medical science, particularly through the therapeutic use of plasma proteins, an area in which Kedrion is specialized.”

In the context of its activities, Fondazione Carlo Erba continues to recognize the best research carried out by young Italian graduates in the field of viral diseases with the Cecilia Cioffrese Prizes. To this end, this year Fondazione Carlo Erba is once again announcing a call worth 5,000 euro, financed through the fund left by Mrs Cecilia Cioffrese, administered by the Foundation.

The complete calls and the applications are available on the Fondazione Carlo Erba website, “Bandi” section.
