Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences, a non-profit organisation specialising in the establishment of new pharmaceutical/biotechnological ventures, and Kedrion, a biopharmaceutical company specialising in the development and manufacture of plasma-derived products, announced they have entered into an agreement under which Kedrion will be granted a biopharmaceutical production laboratory in accordance with the GMPs – Good Manufacturing Practices, the industry’s topmost quality standards.
The agreement was signed today at the City Hall in Siena by Maurizio Cenni, President of Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences and Mayor of Siena, and by Paolo Marcucci, President and CEO of Kedrion.
Under the terms of the agreement, Toscana Life Sciences will grant Kedrion some areas of the laboratory to implement a production line along with a top-rank service package. Kedrion will use the new line at the Bio-Incubator facility to develop small runs of innovative drugs based on GMP standards, in particular part of POD’s project (Plasmatic Orphan Drugs) funded by the Region Tuscany for research into and development of plasma-based orphan drugs.
