Open innovation, Kedrion partners the University of Pisa

Sharing knowledge and skills is one of the key values that motivates and inspires Kedrion Biopharma’s work in the communities in which it operates.

For this reason, Kedrion has long been working with local businesses to promote research and encourage innovation: a bridge between the world of research and the industry, between innovative projects and production activities, between the company and the communities with which it collaborates.

Kedrion has decided to extend and strengthen this commitment by embarking on a strategic "open innovation" path aimed at promoting a constant and active exchange of ideas, experiences and know-how with doctors, researchers, universities, start-ups, public and private bodies, and patient organizations.

This path has led to Kedrion collaborating with the University of Pisa as part of the Proof-of-Concept (PoC) call for proposals, which the company will be supporting with an initial investment in a Life Sciences research and innovation project that has the potential for industrial and commercial development.

The purpose of this call for proposals is to identify and finance cutting-edge technologies, turn an innovative idea into a working prototype, and then support its development and transfer to companies or the market.

For Kedrion, encouraging innovation first and foremost means improving patients’ quality of life. And the purpose of the company's Open Innovation project is to collect and evaluate the most innovative ideas and projects put forward by our local partners, and to enter into partnerships that will foster the implementation of these innovations on an industrial scale.
