SIMTI 2022 Conference: Kedrion alongside the world of blood transfusion

Following two years of virtual meetings, the 44th Conference of Transfusion Medicine Studies organized by the Italian Society of Transfusion Medicine and Hematology (SIMTI) was held in Rimini from the 3rd to the 5th of May with in-person participation.

Thanks to a rich and varied program, this wide-ranging appointment offered specialists in the field the ideal opportunity to discuss and share in person the principal diagnostic and therapeutic advances currently in progress in our Country.

Kedrion, in confirming its commitment alongside the world of blood transfusion in Italy, supported the event by participating with a stand, a delegation of over 20 guests and a workshop entitled “ Intravenous ferric derisomaltose: a new iron-based formulation used to optimize the management of patients suffering from Iron Deficiency Anemia”.

The meeting took place on May 4th and was chaired by Dr. Ivo Beverina from Milan and Dr. Patrizia Di Gregorio from Chieti (also Vice President of SIMTI), with Dr. Di Gregorio and Dr. Marco Marietta from Modena as guest speakers.

“Iron deficiency anemia is the most common type of Anemia and is a medical condition which is of interest to many disciplines. Kedrion’s workshop focused on the one hand on the physiopathology of iron metabolism, knowledge of which is the basis for applying alternative or complementary therapeutic approaches to blood transfusion according to the principles of Patient Blood Management; and on the other on the in-depth analysis of ferric derisomaltose.” Dott.ssa Patrizia Di Gregorio
