Emoked, the software Kedrion Biopharma designed and developed in support of the Italian Blood System for the traceability of the entire chain of plasma, has been listed among the nominees for the best projects aimed at institutions and payors within the third edition of the “About Digital Pharma Awards”. Its functional impact to improve not only the traceability, but also the transparency and efficiency of the entire chain of plasma-derivatives in Italy was particularly appreciated.
The “Digital Awards” of the About Pharma magazine evaluate the best digital projects in terms of factual and positive impact on patients’ quality of life, health professionals’ daily practice and on the strategic decisions of managers responsible for health planning. 153 projects from 70 companies participated in the 2015 edition, developed by global leading pharmaceutical companies; the best ones – including Kedrion’s project Emoked – were presented during the final gala in Milan on October 29, in front of an audience of over 400 people.
To date, Emoked has been made available to the Lombardia Regional Blood Centre (CRS) and in the near future will be extended to other regional processing and validation centers, to the Marche Region and to the Regional Blood Centre of Pesaro. In addition to which, the platform is currently being piloted at the National Blood Centre in Rome. Integrations with other management softwares used by the Italian Transfusion Centers are also on the way in order to implement Emoked in the regions of Piemonte, Trentino Alto Adige, Val D’Aosta, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Emilia Romagna. The goal for 2016 will be to install the software in an increasing number of regions, and ultimately in all of Italy.
